Latest News Some visitors have been experiencing difficulties viewing Flash items on the web site after updating their Flash plug-ins, please be aware that if you are using Internet Explorer and have downloaded the latest version, there may be an issue with the Flash version numbering, we had the same problem at Elgin Radio the other day and if you check the following it should sort out any issues you might be having - 1. right mouse click on the Flash item that's causing a problem and make a note of the Flash version displaying (this may be version 6) 2. On your windows desktop, go to start -> control panel -> add/remove programs 3. IMPORTANT remove any current Flash players you have in the list then once completed close that window 4. open Internet Explorer and go to www.adobe.com then download and install the latest Flash player for your browser 5. Please note that ALL browser windows must first be closed for the install to perform correctly, this includes any download windows open in the background 6. If you're still having problems with Internet Explorer or Firefox, please try downloading Google Chrome as this may fix issues with streaming 7. LATEST INFO if you would prefer to use a computer based player instead of streaming directly from your web browser, we would recommend the VLC player download-able from here for Windows XP here for Windows 7 or go here for OSX and Linux distributions copy this address into the player earth.passionradio.co.uk:5000/;stream.mp3 and enjoy Elgin Radio browser free.
Tech Talk Streaming audio has been available for some time on the internet, but because of the variety of web browsers and operating systems in use globally, rather than have listeners download proprietary software like Real Audio Player, Quicktime etc, which may not be compatible with all operating systems, Elgin Radio has opted for the most widely used technology to stream it's broadcasts, which is Adobe Flash. This does mean however that PC users will need to make sure that their web browsers are up to date with either the latest version of Internet Explorer or Mozilla's Firefox and make sure they have the latest version of Flash player installed to get the best from the service. Elgin Radio has tried to use technology accessible to as many people as possible, and streams the broadcast at a rate that is compatible with broadband services, however if listeners are using older PC's with low power or memory they may have issues with glitching or stuttering if trying to operate another programme whilst listening to the service due to the PC's physical capabilities. If listeners are experiencing difficulty with the service, please check the rest of this FAQ section of the website and if the answer isn't there, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and we'll try to answer any queries you have.
